About

From engineering drawings to spend strategy

I started in mechanical engineering, which is where I learned how materials, tolerances and process choices quietly decide what a product costs. Procurement was the natural next step: the place where those decisions turn into supplier terms, lead times and margin.

Over six years I've run end-to-end procurement in two very different worlds — high-volume electronics manufacturing at Vivo, where I delivered £1.1M+ in cumulative savings through benchmarking, vendor development and import sourcing, and CAPEX buying at a HMEL oil & gas refinery, where 20+ purchase orders a day had to be audit-ready every single time.

Most recently at Tata Consultancy Services I led a PR-to-PO transition for a major UK public sector client, migrating 100% of active processes in 20 weeks with zero disruption to live purchasing.

I finished my MBA at Loughborough University in 2025, with a research project on AI-enabled contract management in procurement. What I care about is procurement that is simple to follow, transparent to audit and scalable as spend grows.

Projects

Problems I was handed, and what changed

Challenge

Supplier contracts ran on manual paperwork and physical approvals. Renewals took up to six weeks, versions drifted, and a single missing signature could hold up a project.

Action

I proposed digitising contract approvals, worked with internal IT to integrate an e-signature workflow, and aligned suppliers on legal and operational compliance. Rollout started with vendors that already had digital infrastructure, then scaled across all major suppliers.

Result

Approval cycle times dropped sharply, version-control errors largely disappeared, and approvals became traceable across departments — releasing buyer capacity for higher-value sourcing.

Challenge

COVID-19 exposed heavy dependence on overseas suppliers for key materials — stock shortages, spiking freight costs and real production risk.

Action

I ran a localisation programme across 30+ material categories: market benchmarking, identifying and qualifying domestic suppliers, and working with R&D on alternative materials. Where production teams were hesitant, pilot trials proved quality and performance before switching.

Result

Supply dependency on single overseas sources fell sharply, lead times shortened, logistics costs came down, and local sourcing strengthened ESG performance.

Challenge

Procure-to-Pay processes varied across regions, creating inefficiency and inconsistent reporting. Manual tracking of requests delayed approvals and made performance analysis unreliable.

Action

I mapped the regional variations, designed a single unified PR-to-PO process inside SAP, aligned procedures with governance frameworks ahead of go-live, and trained a 4-person team through the transition.

Result

Every active workflow migrated on schedule with no disruption to live purchasing, reporting accuracy improved, and approval bottlenecks eased for stakeholders.
